The US cash session is 09:30-16:00 Eastern. Johannesburg stays UTC+2. In September 2026 the US is still on daylight saving, so the regular tape is 15:30-22:00 SAST until 1 November. Cash tape vs CFD clock
NYSE and Nasdaq cash run one core session: 09:30-16:00 ET, six and a half hours. A NAS100 or US100 CFD on a retail desk is a different product. Many brokers keep that index CFD open near 24 hours on weekdays, then pause for a daily settlement break. If you trade NAS100 on FxPro, read the symbol hours in Direct or the terminal. Do not paste a NYSE holiday PDF onto a CFD ticket.

NYSE publishes core hours as 09:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. ET. Pre-market and late sessions exist on US venues. Those extra windows are not automatically your CFD hours. Confirm September 2026 instrument specs on the platform you will actually click.
Why the SAST number moves
South Africa has no daylight saving. The US does. Twice a year the Johannesburg open moves one hour even though SAST stays UTC+2. "SA summer" is a sloppy label. Track Eastern: 09:30 ET is 15:30 SAST on EDT weeks (UTC-4) and 16:30 SAST on EST weeks (UTC-5). After 1 November 2026 the cash tape becomes 16:30-23:00 SAST.
If a blog says "Nasdaq opens 15:30 in SA summer", check the US DST calendar before you set an alarm.
NAS100 is not the cash tape
People type NAS100 because that is the MT5 / cTrader ticker, not because they own Nasdaq shares. Cash still opens and closes on the table. Index CFDs often keep quoting after 22:00 SAST in September, then pause around the daily break. Spreads outside cash hours are usually wider. That is a cost, not a bonus window.

US holidays still shut the cash tape
NYSE lists 2026 cash holidays including Labour Day (already passed on 7 September), Thanksgiving 26 November, and Christmas 25 December. The Friday after Thanksgiving 2026 (27 November) is an early close at 13:00 ET on the cash venues. A CFD book may stay open, go thin, or pause. Treat holiday hours as a spec check, not a strategy.

Is NAS100 the same clock as Nasdaq cash?
No. Nasdaq cash is a 6.5-hour tape. NAS100 on a retail CFD desk often trades near 24 hours on weekdays with a daily break. Read the symbol spec in your terminal, not a stock-exchange holiday PDF.
Does South Africa change clocks for this?
No. SAST is UTC+2 all year. The SAST label moves because the United States observes daylight saving, not because Johannesburg does.
