The rand problem with a fixed dollar threshold

The rand floats and it moves. A 5% swing across a quarter is ordinary, not exceptional, which means the rand value of a USD 3,000 balance can shift by more than the campaign rebate will ever return. That is the honest frame for a South African reader: the currency exposure on the account balance is larger than the promotional upside on the trading.
